Workers’ Compensation Medical Providers; The Missing Link
You have workers’ compensation insurance; you have a managed care plan; you have first responders and you have a back to work program. Who is going to treat your injured employees? Often the most important component is missing. As medicine is becoming increasingly specialized choosing the wrong occupational medicine provider could derail your entire return to work program. This short program can give you the necessary tools to make an educated decision.

Understanding and Complying with Work Restrictions
This training gives your frontline supervisory staff the necessary knowledge to read and react to work restrictions written by a medical provider. By properly complying with restrictions you can realize a lower workers’ compensation premium.

Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors
This Training qualifys the supervisor to make prudent and reasonable determinations regarding potential or suspected substance abuse, in accordance with the Federal Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace guidelines. This course is approximately 90 minutes.

First Aid Training
Prepare your staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical personnel arrive and take over. The First Aid course provides training in basic first aid procedures, with the opportunity for training in adult CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). The course is for people assigned as first responders to emergencies in the workplace or community. This includes corporate employees, security personnel, airline personnel, and other individuals who want or require first aid training.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a First Aid card valid for (2) years

Pediatric First Aid
Caregivers and teachers need to know what to do when a child is injured or becomes suddenly and severely ill. Most injuries that require first aid are not life-threatening. Usually, first aid involves simple, common sense procedures. However, first aid can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. In this course you will learn the necessary skills to recognize an injured or suddenly ill infant or child. You will learn ways to prevent childhood injuries and what to do in an emergency.

Class includes a book, practical materials and exam. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a First Aid certificate valid for (3) years

CPR and AED
The AED Course teaches basic techniques of Adult CPR and the use of an AED. This program also includes an option for the Pediatric CPR with AED program.

Students will learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of 4 major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction.


Back School; Proper Lifting

There are no OSHA guidelines for back safety. It is the responsibility of every employer to teach their employees the basics of proper lifting and reasons why they need to lift properly. This short but informative course cover back safety, proper lifting techniques and the anatomy of the human back.

Lockout/Tagout
Covers OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy, Lockout/Tagout Standard 1910.147 Subpart J, key components of an energy control program; inspections of energy control devices; and steps for testing equipment.


Hazard Communication
Covers OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 1910.1200 Subpart Z, setting up a hazard communication program, labeling hazardous chemicals, and Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS).

Confined Spaces
Covers OSHA Permit-Required Confined Spaces Regulation 1910.146 Subpart J, how to identify, evaluate and control hazards; protective equipment; and rescue procedures.

OSHA Record Keeping
Covers OSHA Recordkeeping and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses Standard 1904,record retention and access, and petitions for recordkeeping exceptions.

EMT-Basic
The Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)course is designed to train individuals to provide comprehensive emergency medical care at the basic life support level to victims of illness or injury. The course is an intensive three weeks of classroom, skills session, and clinical time. EMT's must undergo approximately 140 hours of training. The EMT-Basic course is designed to train individuals to provide comprehensive emergency medical care at the basic life support level to victims of illness or injury. Upon completion of the course, students are able to assess and appropriately treat conditions ranging from simple fractures, stroke, and chest pain to critical trauma, cardiac arrest, and childbirth. The specific skills learned are: patient assessment, airway management techniques, vital signs, cardiac arrest management, automated defibrillator, and trauma management skills, which include cervical spine stabilization, back boarding, management of bleeding and shock, and splinting techniques. Certification as an EMT requires the successful completion of a national standard written and practical exam. On completion of the course, students are prepared to function on a basic life support ambulance service

EMT Refresher
The refresher course is a review of the skills and knowledge covered in the EMT-Basic course. This refresher course is organized to meet your busy schedule. This course meets local and state requirements for Connecticut. Successful completion of the written test is required by Connecticut to maintain EMT certification. In addition to reviewing core curriculum, EMS Education has used the EMT-Refresher course as a vehicle to inform participants of changes in emergency care such as new equipment, current research, or issues of general concern to EMS providers

MRT
Medical Response Technician’s (MRT) fall under the minimal basic classification of patient care, in some states they are know as First Responders. MRT training consists of 45-50 hours of training.

EMT-Intermediate
Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate (EMT-I) work under the direction of a physician through radio communication, provides advanced level of medical skills which include advanced airway care & administration of intravenous fluids. EMT-I's must undergo additional training of 65-80 hours above the basic EMT-B program.

PEPP
Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) represents a complete source of prehospital medical information for the emergent care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed specifically to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.

OSHA Blood borne Pathogen
In this course you will learn proper protection from exposure to diseases that can be transmitted through blood and bodily fluids. Cleaning methods will be also be covered.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Course Completion Certificate.

Focus Topics
Supplement the First Aid and CPR Training by adding monthly or quarterly trainings. The Focus Topics are additional information to better educate your first aid team, giving them added knowledge and confidence.
